The CantalThe Cantal is known as one of the wildest mountain ranges in France. It can be discovered both in summer (with its many hiking trails) and in winter (through its many winter sports activities such as alpine skiing, ski touring, Nordic skiing, hok skiing, dog sledding and ski joëring…) thanks to the many leisure activities it offers. The relief of the Cantaloften called « the country of great spaces » with plateaus gigantic and many valleys, are suitable for the scenery and escape.

Indeed, in winter, this volcanic Mountainous offers weather conditions close to those elsewhere far away: The snow froze into dunes and the landscapes resemble the Arctic and the large remote areas of Spitsbergen. Four degrees Only below zero, the overhanging plateaus of the glacial valleys are sparkling with white purity, and the sheer cliffs are blooming with icebergs.

It is in this setting that the Lioran is located, the largest ski area of the Massif Central with its mechanisms and its train that drops you at the foot of the slopes. Its 150 hectares of skiing are arranged at 1250 m altitude and 1300 meters up to 1850 m, and allow to ski in very diversified spaces in the heart of the majestic landscapes of Cantalwhich open by clear weather on the quasi-totality of its Mounts. 20 ski lifts (with 1 ski lift) with 44 tracks for 60 km of glide are served.

Resort Discovery ideally located for a good visit with three ski schools and a beautiful beginner area. For those who want to get away from the lifts, Cantal offers a wide range of winter activities: snow hiking, ice climbing, dog sledding, snowkite skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing…

The Nordic domain of Prat de Bouc Haute Planèze

To discover the Cantal otherwise, go your way to the Nordic. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, biathlon, sledding and dog sledding are all offered in the same module. The Col de Prat de Bouc (1392 m), Font Alagnon, Le Ché and Cézens form 4 distinct sectors in one general area: the resort of Le Lioran also offers a link by chairlift and ski lift to reach the local ski area.

Station of Saint-Urcize / Aubrac

Nordic skiing and Alpine skiing of Saint-Urcize is a small and friendly place: 35 km of cross-country trails, 6 downhill ski trails, 4 snowshoe trails, a sledging area as well as special routes for sledding picnics.

In a forest of fir trees, Le LioranLioran, located at the foot of the Plomb du Cantal in the Massif Central, is the ski resort of the Cantalien Massif. The architecture is contemporary however it harmonizes perfectly with the environment, in the heart of one of the most beautiful landscapes of Europe. For a very affordable package, Le Lioran offers a large ski area with various slopes in the fir trees and a beautiful panorama. The slopes are quite short but interesting enough. The new lifts mean that you don’t have to wait too long. The après-ski is in full expansion.
